A coat you fit in your pocket
I am sure most of us could recommend a top-class lightweight jacket for training in, but usually the sting in the tail is the cost, as they range from reasonable to a month's wages. However, AW Basics has found one that is not only reasonably priced at £29.95, but it is a terrific addition to the kit. Produced by Scottish-based firm Keela, the Neutronic is based on a very simple concept. It is so incredibly light and windproof that you can pack it away in its own pocket. AW Basics gave it a couple of trial runs recently when the wind was biting on the Cambridgeshire fens and it did its job superbly well. It has several strengths, but the major one is its weight, being only 4oz, and it is very easy to pack away and carry while running. As someone who has no option but to train on open fields and spaces there is the inevitability that any wind around will be battering my body, but this jacket certainly reduces the impact of those weather conditions. The Flylite fabric technology used in the jacket was originally developed by Keela for use in military survival suits. The Neutronic comes in a wide range of colours and not only does it serve a practical use, but it also looks very smart.
We are sure there are many equally useful jackets around, but at this price we doubt many will be better value.:-
