Keela will be exhibiting at the Gadget Show 7-11th April 2010
This hugely anticipated event is already sold out!
The inaugral OTS Novel Awards were presented to the winners at the Outdoor Trade Show on Monday 28th September. Keela turned out to be the brand to beat by winning the overall ''Product of the Year'' for its ESP clothing system.
Camping brand Vango took home both Camping Equipment and Sleeping Bag Awards for its camp bed and the Supernova 5000 respectively. While Keela shined above the rest in the Clothing Category. Sole walked away with the Footwear Award for the Platinum Sport Flips while Edgar Brothers received the Accessories Award for the Light for Life Torch.
The panel of judges which included some of the outdoor industry's best known names from the trade and consumer press and the retail sector, spent time analysing the three finalist products of each category before highlighting their favourites. The winners were then presented with their own trophies by renowned mountaineer and adventurer Alan Hinkes.
Throughout the Outdoor Trade Show products from all the finalists were placed on display within a dedicated area giving visitors a chance to view the innovative designs and technologies.
Held at the Outdoor Trade Social the Novel awards ceremony was witnessed by over 300 exhibitors and visitors who were keen to see which products were favoured by the judges.
OTS show Organiser Marta Williams commented ''It was great to have such positive interests in the Novel Awards with many exhibitors keen to put their products forward. There was a healthy competitive atmosphere at the awards ceremony with all the finalists companies eager to find out who won. We are hoping to develop the awards for next years show with more categories and even more entries from exhibitors.''
Mountain Rescue Needs Your Help!
The Mountain Rescue Team has to pay VAT on what they purchase and it is our view that this negates the important work that they do! A petition has been set up and submitted to Number 10 to ensure that this is put right. Click the link below to sign the petition.

It is estimated that the combined efforts of the 50+ teams in the organisation save the tax payer in excess of £6 million per annum. The police have the statutory responsibility for missing persons yet lack the resources to search for them. If they had to find the resources they would have to take police officers off their normal duties, making the street less safe.
The task of searching is often sub-contracted to MR teams, hence the saving to us tax payers. Not all searches are for mountaineers. Increasingly MR teams are called out to search rural and urban areas for elderly persons suffering from dementure, missing children and adults determined to self harm. MR teams played pivotal rolls at Lockerbie, the Chinese cockling tragedy on Morcambe Bay and the Virgin trains derailment in Cumbria.
The MR service is appealing to government to excuse them of VAT in return for the savings they offer. It is estimated that the combined VAT bill of the 50 teams is approximately £200,000. The would make a tremendous boost to their collective finances. To date government are not listening, hence the petition.
Every MR team functions purely on the generosity of individuals, organisations and businesses in their own area to supply the service they provide. None of them receive any guaranteed funding whatsoever. The majority of them are registered charities.
