Garment Care
A well cared for garment will last and last which is why we offer this advise to help make your Keela garment go on pushing the boundaries time after time.
Routine care and maintenance on your part will ensure the highest performance from your Keela garment and ensure a longer lifespan.
The most obvious way to retain performance, is to simply keep your Keela garment clean and its DWR (durable water repellent) finish up to date. This means washing it when it gets dirty and reproofing on a regular basis the DWR finish. Dirt accumulating on the outer surface of a waterproof garment attracts water and reduces the performance of breathable pores in the fabric. This in effect will rapidly reduce the breathability of the garment down to almost nothing. Brush off any surface dirt regularly, keep oil and grease away from your garment. It is imperative that it is free of surface dirt at all times.
Always hang your garment up to dry when wet.
DO NOT leave the garment rolled up or folded when wet.
DO NOT hang garment on Radiator or near hot heat source.

BASIC WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERFORMANCE GARMENTS
(SDP, waterproof shells, softshell and waterproof fleeces)
Always follow the care symbols on the inner label when washing your Keela garment.
Hand/or Machine wash (gentle cycle) at 30-40°C. Use pure soap or specialist soap cleaner for waterproof garments. Ensure garments are thoroughly rinsed.
DO NOT dry clean
DO NOT USE bleach, fabric softners, conditioners, Woolite, harsh detergents or biological washing powders/liquids.
DO NOT SPIN Keela recommends reproofing garment after each wash whilst still damp for optimum performance.
WARNING
Many commercial soaps and detergents have added perfumes, brighteners, whiteners etc. and these are not recommended as they can negatively interact with the waterproof coatings/membranes and the DWR finish. Conditioners and softener also inhibit the wickability of garments especially base layers.
REPROOFING
RE-PROOFING of your garment is just as important as washing. Although the fabric is treated with a water repellent finish it does not last forever. When the repellent finish has worn off, the surface fabric will “wet out” (absorb water). Use a specialist DWR spray to reproof as required. For System Dual Protection jackets avoid reproofing products, which are designed to be used in conjunction with a washing machine.
The garments may be tumble dried at a low heat setting for 5-10 minutes when still damp to assist in reactivating the DWR finish, but must be removed from the drum immediately when the machine stops.
